How to Get Onboarded for Microsoft Teams Archiving

To enable Microsoft Teams archiving in Jatheon Cloud, please ensure the following prerequisites are met before starting the setup process.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a Microsoft Teams Admin user who will receive and approve the Jatheon Cloud connection request.
  • This Admin will receive an authorization email to approve the Jatheon Cloud application permissions.
  • The user receiving the connection request email must exist on Jatheon Cloud. This user can have admin role assigned.
For detailed steps, see: How to Manage Users.

Steps to Set Up Microsoft Teams Archiving

  1. Navigate to Company Settings from the drop-down menu next to your initials in the upper-right corner.

  3. From the drop-down list, select the Microsoft Teams Admin user and click Select and Send Email.

  4. The selected Admin will receive an email with a link to approve the Jatheon Cloud connection request. Following the link redirects to the Microsoft sign-in page where the Admin grants permissions to the Jatheon Cloud app.

  5. Once logged in, the Admin must approve the Jatheon Cloud app permissions shown below:
    • Read all users' Teams chat messages
    • Read Teams channel messages
    • Access group and channel metadata
    • Maintain access to granted data

These permissions allow Jatheon Cloud to securely collect and archive Teams messages and attachments.

  6. After granting access, the Admin must confirm the account to be archived on Jatheon Cloud.

  7. Before starting archiving, the Admin can enable the option Include Historical Data.

Selecting this checkbox will include historical Teams content — older messages, channels, and shared files — in addition to new conversations. It’s recommended to enable this option only during initial setup to avoid duplicate ingestion later.

  8. Archiving will begin once the connection has been approved and confirmed successfully.

If your organization needs to add additional Microsoft Teams accounts for archiving, repeat this process and provide the email address of the Microsoft Teams Admin so they can receive and approve the connection email.
