A short guide on how to configure Google Mail journaling.
Please select one of the following methods:
1. Content Compliance
2. Routing
3. 3rd party Archiving (Google Workspace Enterprise)
1. Content Compliance
1. Log in to your Google account.
2. In the top right corner click the Settings menu and select Manage this organization:
3. Click on the Apps, Google Workspace, Gmail:
4. Click Gmail.
5. Scroll down to Compliance and click on the drop-down menu.
6. Then, scroll down to Content Compliance and click ADD RULE.
Step 1 - select ALL email messages to affect
- Inbound
- Outbound
- Internal – sending
- Internal – receiving
Step 2 - Add expressions that describe the content you want to search for in each message
Click Add
From the dropdown menu, select Advanced content match; the Advanced content options will be displayed.
Select the following options:
- Location, select Full Headers.
- Match type, select Contains text.
In the Content field, enter all domain names for which you want to archive mail:
Step 3 - Scroll down to Also deliver to, click Add Recipients and under Recipient Address enter provided journaling email address.
8. Click Save again
2. Routing:
1. Log in to your Google account.
2. In the top right corner click the Settings menu and select Manage this organization:
3. Click on the Apps, Google Workspace, Gmail:
4. Click Gmail.
5. Scroll down to Routing and click on the drop-down menu.
6. Go to Routing and click ADD RULE
Step 1 - select ALL email messages to affect
- Inbound
- Outbound
- Internal – sending
- Internal – receiving
Step 2 - For the above types of messages, do the following
Scroll down to Also deliver to, click the checkbox, click Add Recipients
Change the settings from Basic to Advanced and click on the Change envelope recipient checkbox.
Under Replace Recipient enter the journaling email address you were provided and click Save:
8. Click Save again
3. Third-party email archiving
The third-party email archiving setting applies to Google Workspace Enterprise users only.
1. Log in to your Google account.
2. In the top right corner click the Settings menu and select Manage this organization:
3. Click on the Apps, Google Workspace, Gmail:
4. Click Gmail.
5. Scroll down to Routing and click on the drop-down menu.
6. Go to Third-party email archiving and click CONFIGURE
7. Enter a short description (e.g Jatheon Cloud) and enter the journaling email you were provided then click Save
