Every user can filter search results by the tags they have access to — for example their own personal tags, or legal hold tags for Compliance Officers.
Filter by tags in Simple Search
- Go to the Search section and open the Email search.
- Click the Tags dropdown next to the search field.
- Tick the tags you want to filter by. Tags are grouped by type — Personal Tags, Legal Hold, Retention, Cases, Classifications and AI Classifications — and you only see the types you have permission for. Use the Filter List... box to find a tag by name.
- Click Search. Entering a keyword is optional.
Please note that when you select several tags, only emails that have all of them are shown. To find emails that have any of the selected tags, use Advanced Search.
Filter by tags in Advanced Search
- Open the Advanced Search tab.
- In the first dropdown of a search block, select Tags.
- In the second dropdown, choose a condition:
- Contains All Tags — emails that have every selected tag
- Contains Any Tags — emails that have at least one of the selected tags
- Does Not Contain All Tags — leaves out only emails that have every selected tag
- Does Not Contain Any Tags — leaves out emails that have any of the selected tags
- Is Empty — emails that have no tags at all
- Pick the tags from the tag dropdown and click Search.
Please note that the Does Not Contain conditions also return emails that have no tags.
You can combine a Tags field with other fields in the same block, in which case an email has to match all of them. To search for alternatives, click Add Block — an email then only has to match one of the blocks.
