As a Google Workspace super admin, you can archive your organization's Google Chat messages in Jatheon Cloud. Google sends the chats as journal emails to your Jatheon Cloud journaling address.

Before you start

• Your Google Workspace edition must be Frontline Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals or Education Plus.
• Chat history must be on, and users must not be able to change it. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu > Apps > Google Workspace > Google Chat > History for chats, select History is ON, leave Allow users to change their history setting unchecked and click Save.

• External spaces should be turned off, because messages in spaces owned by people outside your organization aren't archived.

Find your journaling address

1. In Jatheon Cloud, click your initials in the top right corner and select Company Settings.
2. Open the Connectors tab.
3. Click the Google Chat card.
4. Copy the address under Journaling Email.

Turn on third-party archiving in Google

1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu > Apps > Google Workspace > Google Chat.
2. Click Third-party Archiving Settings.
3. To archive all messages, leave the top organizational unit selected. To archive only one department, select its organizational unit.
4. Check Archiving enabled.
5. In Destination address, paste your Jatheon Cloud journaling address.
6. In Archival frequency, enter how often Google should send the archive, between 1 and 24 hours.
7. In Custom headers, enter X-Jatheon-Mail-Type:Google-Chat.
8. Click Save. If you selected a child organizational unit, click Override.

Please note that off-the-record messages aren't archived.

Find your Google Chat messages

Archived chats appear in Jatheon Cloud as emails. To find them, go to the Search section, click the Email tab, open Advanced Search, and select Type > Is > Google Chat. A chat between two people is listed as Google Chat, and a chat with more people as Group Google Chat.
