How to Migrate Google Chat Data

This article explains how to create a Google Chat migration task in Jatheon Cloud, start the migration, monitor progress, and import the data after completion.

Before you begin

Make sure you’ve created a Google service account JSON with delegated access for Vault. See: How to Set Up Google Vault API for Export and Migration Tasks .

Step 1: Go to the Data Transfer section

  1. Log in to Jatheon Cloud.
  2. Click the dropdown next to your profile initials (top-right) and select Company Settings.
  3. From the top navigation, click DATA TRANSFER and open the Migrations tab.
  4. Find the Google Chat tile and click Create Task.

Step 2: Fill in task details

  1. Task Name — Enter a descriptive name (e.g., GoogleChat_ABC_June2025).
  2. Credentials — Click Browse and upload the Google Vault service account JSON (domain-wide delegated). For instructions, see How to Set Up Google Vault API for Export and Migration Tasks .
  3. Google Account — Enter the primary Google Workspace admin account (e.g., admin@yourdomain.com).
  4. Mailboxes to Migrate — Enter a comma-separated list of users (e.g., user1@domain.com, user2@domain.com).
